Introduction to Beadmaking

Introduction to Beadmaking

Class Length: Two weeks (two, 2-hour sessions)
Tuition: $150
Class Limit: 2 Students
Instructor: Kristy Wright

beads

For those who are unfamiliar with the process of beadmaking, this workshop involves the use of an oxygen/propane torch (open flame) to melt glass onto a steel rod. At first glance, the process might seem intimidating, however, safety is our main goal and will be the first thing taught. Students will be required to wear closed-toe shoes and cotton clothing (synthetic clothing could melt...you get the picture!).

You will learn preparation and procedures for how to make several types of beads. Then we'll progress to pulling stringers and applying them in dots and stripes, as well as other basic techniques. Individual follow-up sessions are available for more advanced techniques.
